We will trek the Druk Path trail for five of the 13 days we're in Bhutan. This is considered a moderate trek in wild, remote country. We’ll hike anywhere from 4–11 miles a day over uneven terrain and up and down steep switchbacks, while carrying lightweight daypacks; the rest of our gear is transported for us (see Gear & Packing).

The weather in the Himalayas is variable. We strongly recommend that participants have a good level of fitness and are well prepared and have at least some backpacking or trekking experience, and begin their conditioning no less than two months prior to departure (see Get Ready).

It is each guest's responsibility to arrive at the Suvarnabhumi Ville Airport Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, no later than 4pm (see Travel & Logistics). The following morning, Modern Adventure will organize a group transport to the airport for our flight to Paro, Bhutan.

After breakfast on our last day, Modern Adventure will organize transfers to Paro airport for our return flight to Bangkok. If you’re flying onwards from Bangkok this day, your flight from Bangkok's BKK airport should be scheduled to depart at 4pm or later (see Travel & Logistics).

Prices are based on double occupancy – if you would like to be paired up with a roommate you should choose ‘Single: Willing to Share’ at check out. Modern Adventure will pair you up with a roommate of the same gender to share tent and lodge accommodations.

If you are a solo traveler and want to have your own accommodations, a $2,000 supplement will apply at checkout – these spots are very limited due to the type of accommodations on our adventure and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

This adventure is limited to 12 people, and recommended for travelers aged 18 and above who are in good health and have some experience with backpacking. You can expect to be joined by a variety of guest including couples, friends traveling together and solo travelers. We’ll also be joined by local backpacking guides, porters, and a Modern Adventure Trip Leader.

You may cancel on or before November 29, 2021 and receive a full refund minus a $500 per-person service fee. If you cancel after November 30, 2021 there is a 50% cancellation fee. On or after January 28, 2022 there is a 100% cancellation fee.

We highly recommend purchasing emergency evacuation insurance and travel insurance (see Get Ready) in cases of family/medical emergency, or cases of the trip being cancelled (see our Terms and Conditions for full details).

While we do make an effort to accommodate special dietary requirements, our hiking adventures may hold particular difficulties when attempting to accommodate restrictions or requirements. We ask that you inform us of any dietary needs on your traveler information form (you will receive this form prior to travel) so we can make our partners in Bhutan aware of allergies and other requirements, and will reach out if we run into any roadblocks. If you have any significant concerns, please reach out to discuss possible difficulties with our concierge team.

We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement for your trip costs; if your trip plans change for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to get medical help, emergency transport, and for theft, loss or damage of items while traveling.

For best coverage, always insure the full trip cost within two weeks of your initial trip deposit and note that most ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ policies must be purchased on the date of your initial deposit.
